Scholarships for UAE Student

UAE’s Ministry of Education (MoE) provides various opportunities to UAE national students in order to pursue higher education in international universities especially Canadian universities. Such grants promote and encourage leadership potential and academic achievements in the students. The idea was put forward by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in 1999. His steps to encourage student exchange programs with international universities showed government’s realisation of educations as the driving force behind the public agenda of UAE. Such partnerships promotes mutual harmony and exchange of cultural ideologies and identities.

MoE provides scholarships in accordance with the conditions specified by the ministry:

  • UAE citizen
  • Satisfactory behaviour
  • previous qualification as per the set standards
  • score in the language proficiency

Scholarships are provided to the following categories of applicants:

  • undergraduate
  • graduate
  • self-financed but applying for scholarship
  • high-performing students
  • working professionals

Scholarship Office (SCO) under the banner of Ministry of Presidential Affairs offers Distinguished Student Scholarship (DSS), which is an embodiment of the conviction of the late UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan regarding importance of education. SCO was created in 1999. Each year, outstanding Emirati nationals are provided opportunities to pursue their education at prestigious international universities. SCO administers two scholarship programmes:

  • Distinguished Student Scholarship (DSS)
  • Study Abroad Scholarship Programme (SASP)

The Department of Education and Knowledge offers scholarships to UAE nationals. Scholarships are available in disciplines such as science and technology, teaching, urban planning, food control and transportation.

Telecommunication Regulatory Authority

TRA puts its ICT fund to good use by offering Betha program for undergraduate and graduate students. The Betha program has granted hundreds of scholarships and enabled Emirati students to study in the UAE, the USA, Australia and Japan.

EDAAD Program

EDAAD is a scholarship program introduced by Knowledge and Human Development Authority. UAE nationals who demonstrate leadership potential and strong academic achievements are provided the opportunity to pursue education in the international universities.

Masar Program

Ministry of Finance (MoF) offers Masar program to provide college scholarships in order to assist UAE high-school graduates in completing their studies in finance, accounting and other disciplines at accredited universities.

 Entaliq Program

Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) offers scholarships to the brightest UAE students who want to become a top engineer or scientist.

Diplomats Program

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) offers a scholarship program for outstanding Emirati students who wish to pursue a career in the government diplomacy field.

Buhooth Scholarships for Master and Doctorate Program

Khalifa University provides the prestigious Buhooth Scholarship Awards for Master and Doctorate programs not only at Khalifa University but also at various international universities. The competition is higher for International Buhooth award. This scholarship covers payment of all the tuition fees.

Middle East Merit Scholarship

University of Sheffield, UK provides the financial assistance of up to 50% of annual tuition fee for UAE students enrolling in its undergraduate, Master, and research degree programs.

CAS-TWAS President’s Postgraduate Fellowship

The World Academy of Science in partnership with Chinese Academy of Science provides fellowship programs to UAE nationals for Postgraduate programs in Chinese universities. The fellowship is awarded to up to 140 students per year to pursue doctoral research in Molecular Biology, Medical and Health Sciences, Neurosciences, Chemical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Astronomy, Mathematical Sciences, and Physics.

Arturo Falaschi ICGEB Postdoctoral Fellowships

This fellowship is provided by International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for postdoctoral research program. It also requires at least 3 years of work experience. This scholarship covers tuition fee, stipend, health insurance, and many additional expenses. 

Al-Qasimi Foundation’s Doctoral Research Grants

The scholarship provided by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation is available for the students aspiring to pursue a research based degree. It covers all student expenses including airfares, living accommodation, stipend for living costs, and research support.

Abraaj RCA Innovation Funding

Royal College of Art in London provides scholarships for their master degree programs covering full international tuition fees. The Abraaj group operates in 23 countries and provides the opportunity to students living in UAE and other Arab countries.

INSA JRD-Tata Fellowship Program

The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) annually awards 10 fellowships to UAE students for research program in science, engineering, medical and allied disciplines.

Marshal Papworth Scholarships

Marshal Papworth Trust provides a grant of up to £21,500 for MSc and MA program. Students from UAE and various Arab and developing countries.
